FRIDAY AT THE LOCALE AUTUMN EVENTS CONCLUDE

The inaugural series of Friday Autumn night events at the LoCale precinct of Midland have concluded.

Designed to showcase the first stage of the New Junction’s LoCale, at the intersection of Cale Street and The Crescent, the seven events were hosted across Autumn and concluded with the Shopping Trolley Gymkhana on 7 May.

The evening commenced with workshops hosted by Kindling Creative for locals to prepare their shopping trollies before festivities kicked off at 6pm with approximately 200 people in attendance, many dressed as pirates.

Actor Steve Bisley emceed the evening and was accompanied by Rumskull, a pirate themed band who sang sea shanties and entertained the crowd.
 
A total of 10 teams from Herne Hill and Woodbridge Primary Schools and community groups Transition Town Guildford, Youth Empowering Angels, West End Society, Pizzata and Midland Junction Collective all took part and together donated 430kg of non-perishable food items to local charity Midland Meals.

Judging of best sea shanty singing, best slo-mo, best costume and best trolley art was done by Hon Ken Wyatt AM MP, Hon Michelle Roberts MLA, City of Swan councillor Rashelle Predovnik and Wayne Clark from Midland Meals.

  • Hills Billy Cart Grand Prix

  • Cirquest Bushfire Fundraiser

  • Cooking Demonstration

All events were free to attend and encouraged the community to participate, be entertained and support Midland businesses.

Friday at the LoCale was presented by the Midland Junction Collective and UpBeat Events with the support of the City of Swan and Midland Gate Shopping Centre. Plans for a Spring season are underway.
