123 Years of New Junction Giveaway

October 21, 1901 saw the Midland Oval and Recreation Reserve – now New Junction - officially opened by His Worship The Mayor of Midland Junction, Dr William Elgee, with a commemorative tree planting ceremony and day of sports activities on the Oval.

The commemorative tree planting ceremony involved Mayor William and Mayoress Amy Elgee planting either side of the Oval’s entrance at The Avenue (now Junction Parade).

To celebrate this, there are five junior basketballs and footballs to be won at each of the City of Swan’s libraries.

Just go to one of the following libraries in the City of Swan and inform a City staff member that you are there to collect a basketball or football to celebrate 123 years of New Junction:

·         Ballajura Library – Corner Kingfisher Avenue and Illawarra Crescent South, Ballajura

·         Beechboro Library – 332 Benara Road, Beechboro

·         Bullsbrook Library – 3 Maroubra Avenue, Bullsbrook

·         Ellenbrook Library – 90 Main Street, Ellenbrook

·         Guildford Library – 97 James Street, Guildford

·         Midland Library – 45 Helena Street, Midland
