Billy cart grand prix | 6 - 8pm

Calling all big kids and little kids alike to race in the billy cart races hosted by Midland Junction Collective.

A selection of customised push-carts and billy-carts will be available free of charge for parents and kids to race around the track. Mad Max star Steve Bisley will also be on board as emcee!

Thursday, April 8

Aboriginal history and culture | 10am

Dale Tilbrook of Maalinup Aboriginal Art Gallery hosts a fascinating insight in the traditional life of Aboriginal people in the South West of Western Australia.

Aboriginal art for kids | 2pm

Create your own mini masterpiece! Watch a demonstration by Dale Tilbrook and then try your hand at dot painting a river stone or small canvas. Paints and equipment supplied.

Noongar storytelling | 11am and 3pm

Olman Walley, Tani Walker and Flewnt present Noongar stories through music, dreamtime and art.

Bush tucker talk and tastings | 2pm

Join Dale Tilbrook to explore the big supermarket that is the Australian bush.Sample fruits, nuts, herbs, spices and peppers. Learn about their flavours, how to blend and use at home.

Noongar season of Djeran | 11am and 3pm

Olman Walley, Tani Walker and Natasha Eldridge present stories about the Noongar season of Djeran through music and percussion. The campfire-style presentation is supported by The Junkadelic Fireside Combo - you will also be invited to join an intimate jam session of the song Djeran.

Cirquest Wooroloo Fire Benefit | 6 - 8pm

Check out some professional circus performances from the talented bunch at Cirquest. Pick up some dinner and snacks from one of the great local businesses along Cale Street, and kick back and enjoy the show. If you're feeling up to the challenge, join a workshop and learn some circus skills yourself!

Hosted by Midland Junction Collective, all donations received at the event will be given to the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund.

Aboriginal art for kids | 10am and 2pm

Watch a short demonstration and then create your own take home mini masterpiece. Use dot painting techniques to create a pattern on a river rock or canvas.

Bushtucker and wellbeing | 10am and 2pm

Some plants of the Australian bush are not only tasty food, but also contain amazing nutrients, antioxidants and other properties. Learn about accessible bushfood plants and their properties and uses.

Cooking class | 7 - 9pm

Caroline Taylor is one of WA's most renowned and loved chefs. Don't miss this opportunity to join her cooking demo at Locale!

Caroline will take a range of ingredients from her favourite local suppliers, and create mouth-watering meals that are both sophisticated and easy to recreate at home.

This event is hosted by Mad Max star, Steve Bisley - no bookings required.
