Community invited to paint a new mural

City of Swan is inviting community members to help paint a mural at Weeip Park, our newest open space within the New Junction precinct.

Local Perth artist Fieldey has worked with local young people to design a mural for the youth zone, and community painting days will be held from 10am - 3pm on January 14, 15, 16 and 21, 22, 23.

The mural is being painted on the wall opposite the basketball court, with the entrance to Weeip Park off Junction Parade, Midland.

Participants are asked to bring a hat, sunscreen, water and to wear clothes you don't mind getting a bit of paint on.

Everyone is welcome, but children under 12 must be supervised by a parent or carer.

Weeip Park is supported by a $1.3m Lotterywest grant which will go towards important facilities for our young generations to enjoy

The children's play area, which will be delivered in Stage 2 of construction, is thanks to a $1 million contribution from the Stefanelli family, and will reflect elements of the classic Australian backyard - a place to tell stories, catch up with friends and play.

For more information about the painting days, email hello@fieldey.com or drop into the Facebook group Weeip Park Street Art Mural Project.
